Best Reseller Hosting

Reseller Hosting is a type of shared hosting or ‘web’ hosting account that allows to to sell shared hosting accounts in a similar manner to how any hosting company would manage and sell shared hosting accounts.
Usually Reseller hosting accounts come with WHM/cPanel as the control panel. The Reseller will use WHM and the clients will use cPanel. WHM controls all the cPanel shared hosting accounts beneath it.

Reseller Hosting has evolved over the last few years into an incredibly easy business inclined person with even very little technical know how can get started in.
Most of the packages are so complete that there is nothing but your sales website missing for you to start.
Reseller Hosting offers may include WHM/cPanel, Billing management such as WHMCS or ClientExec, a domain reseller account (usually Enom). Most include private domain name servers so your clients don’t immediately know that you’re a reseller.

As said earlier most Reseller Hosting Accounts come with WHM/cPanel. The purpose of this is to manages the hosting accounts on the server. WHM is the upper level control panel  if you like and the sold client account are are the lower level accounts. The clients manage their accounts with cPanel and you manage the clients accounts with WHM.
A lot of hosts are now also including Fantastico and RVskin. Fantastico allows the clients to install roughly one hundred common scripts such as Blogs or Forums to their sites through a simple wizard. RVskin is a type of skin for the clients cPanel control panel. It gives you a lot of flexibility such as languages and other customizations that you and your clients can make to how cPanel looks and works.

Nowadays billing management and client support solution are also included or can be added on for a very reasonable additional monthly fee of around $10. A billing system like WHMCS or ClientExec is installed on your hosting account, usually on the same account that holds your sales website.
This takes care of the order system, which you will need to integrate into your site and also future billing and support for your clients.

One thing that you will most likely need if you don’t already have one is a PayPal account. PayPal is the most commonly used payment method besides direct credit card. Merchant accounts are usually a little beyond the involvement a typical Hosting Reseller will want to deal with leaving PayPal as the best solution for most.
It’s easy to setup a PayPal account and most buyers are familiar with it.
A good idea is to make it so that your billing software creates a new subscription payment for new customers. PayPal will then try to re-bill the client automatically on each renewal date very similar to how a credit card works.

Since most hosts are offering the same ready to go setup to get reseller hosters started we’re left with comparing things very similar to how we would compare hosts if we were interested in signing up for one of their regular shared hosting plans.
This includes concerns such as overselling, server hardware and network.
For great detail on these points see our Best Web Hosting page.

Here are a few points that apply more directly to reseller hosting.
As a general guide don’t sign-up with any host offering cPanel reseller hosting with all the perks mentioned above at a price any lower than roughly $25 per month. Due to the nature of cPanel reseller hosting with all those features and the license costs associated with them we can presume that anyone selling this type of full featured cPanel reseller hosting for less than roughly $25 per month is not making a profit without overselling their servers.
If several of the above features are not included in their base price and cost an additional amount then you should adjust accordingly. Any reseller hosting offer under roughly $15 per month regardless of which  features are included should be something you stay away from.
Cheap reseller hosting is a fast route to much frustration for all involved.
